Free Bulmers? Don't mind if I do.

Since getting into town all I can say is whirlwind. Yesterday after we (my roommate Danielle and I) landed and the fabulous Alex (her boyfriend) picked us up from Heathrow, we dropped off our bags at his house. It was everything we could do to keep really busy and not go home in the middle of the day and sleep thus completely screwing up our sleep cycles. So by keep busy I mean, played volleyball in Trafalgar Square, got lunch, walked around, and went to a Bulmers tasting experiment, where they were giving away free Bulmers cider. Can I get a hell yea?
Spike Contest: Im watching it about to go over and miss the mark by 2 inches....

Experimenters wanted, don't mind if I do.

Bulmers for all!
Today was another busy day, moved into our flat, unpacked, got necessities, picked up a new UK phone, went to the grocery store and now laying in bed at 9:45 on a Friday night, about to pass out. Don't worry I will make up for it another Friday night, and another and maybe a few weekdays nights in-between. Homie ain't playin'.

Well I am off to bed, about assume the starfish position. (if you don't know what starfishing see diagram below except I am the man and there is no bleary eyed woman in bed with me...)

Back to London Town

It has been just about six months since I made a return to my beloved U.S., being the very lucky law student that I am, I am returning to London for another study abroad semester. I cannot even begin to say how excited I am, that being said, there is a small damper on said arrival with London having been taken over by chavs, hoodies, and for my American readers and friends punk ass kids rioting, looting and setting things on fire. Hopefully that will end as quickly as it started and I can get focused on the important things in life, like Gator football season starting in a few weeks, my internship at the UN's human trafficking division in Vienna, finding Prince Charming, pub hopping, shopping and school (the obligatory mention and "ugh")

Leaving tomorrow and still have to put some finishing touches on packing. Much different than last year when I packed two huge bags, wore nothing that I brought with me and wanted to go shopping every other minute. So this year I am packing light so that I can still do absurd amounts of shopping but wont have to wear 35 layers of clothing on the way home, to say I looked homeless would have been a huge understatement.

With all of this said, I'm off to go plan an outfit for the trip... do you think this is too much?

Cheers y'all!

The Late and Great

So so sad to hear about the beautiful and equally influential Elizabeth Taylor's passing. Right up to the end she still had it! Check out the bevy of broaches on her hat, ring on every finger and the fur. Get. It. Girl.

Movie Review

Last night a group of friends went to a late night showing of The Lincon Lawyer. My theory going into it, how can a movie with Matthew McConaughey and Ryan Phillippe be bad? Even if the script is the equivalent of a brown paper bag filled with doggie doo lit on fire... it still is starring some of the finest eye candy Hollywood has to offer, heck yes.

Let me just start by saying that since it was a late show there were only about 10 people in the theatre, every single one of them were law students at my school which was pretty funny. Law students a legal movie? Big surprise. Anyway, this was one of the best movies I have seen in a long long time. It was the epitome of legal thriller, well written, suspenseful, with a twist.
Siskel and Ebert i.e. Kate and company gave it two thumbs up. Plus a surprise 45 mins into it, the Prosecutor is the guy who plays Reese Witherspoon's ex/current hubby in Sweet Home Alabama... mmmmhmmmmm.

Long Time Comin'

So it has been months since I have updated this little guy. No I haven't forgotten about it, but as it as tends to occur, life happens and it was pushed by the wayside. I got the urge to update today as I was driving back up to school mid Spring break, after a kind of a rough and tumble morning. I was having one of those "Bad Days" and Literally felt like I had a tiny rain cloud following me everywhere I went. Here was the rundown:
My car was having issues which = lots of money I had no intention of spending, I have to borrow my moms car and drive back to switch with her later this week, I have unreal amounts of schoolwork to do that just keeps piling up, Cant go to a trip to Jacksonville that I was REALLY looking forward to, and to top it all off, I get back up to St. Pete park the car and realize that I dont have my house key because they are on my keys at home in Naples a couple hours away.... kjdhajkdshfjlkasdjkhjk.

I then got to thinking, lock it up Kate. This is nowhere near a bad day. Were these menial things annoying? Yes. Unexpected? Yes. Made me a pouty mess? Yes. But bad day? No.
I think as a regular Joe, we are lucky if we only have a few of those "bad days". The ones that shake you to the core, make you weak in the knees and feel like someone has just ripped out your insides. My Grandmother passing away while I was in London, and I was alone unable to come home, that was a bad day. The news of thousands losing their lives in the tsunami, bad day, But having car problems and stressing about missing a weekend getaway? Its almost laughable now.

I am constantly letting things pile up and then let myself all too easily get overwhelmed. I need to remind myself that when I start to get that anxiety feeling, to take a step back, think about how ridiculously good I have it, and then keep on keepin on. Honestly half of the things that come my way, I am convinced are a huge cosmic joke. For example after my craptastic annoying morning, I finally get the keys to my place and check the mail, this print was waiting for me.

Seriously the "Keep Calm" made me crack up as it was literally the opposite of my 'tude this AM. Nothing like a little afternoon crafting and terrible tv to lift those spirits.

Overall recap: My morning + reality check + the cute frame and Gator flair I now have on my wall + the afternoon wine I am going to drink while studying = GOOD DAY!

Welp that was my welcome back rant, I promise to not be such a stranger. Also for those of you that are wondering, no, I am not changing the name of my blog as I will be RETURNING to jolly old England in just a few more months. Lets just say I am SO. FREAKING. EXCITED.

Cheers y'all!

P.S. Several people have asked where the frame is from, it is Ikea and the print is from GatorBride and I just had some fabric laying around that I used to back it.
